My Approach to Therapy

A Compassionate, Non-Pathologizing Approach

I meet clients with compassion and adopt a non-pathologizing approach that helps clients understand the different “parts” of themselves—such as the part that worries, the perfectionist part, the part that avoids, the part that people-pleases, or the part that feels it is not good enough.

A central part of Internal Family Systems is helping clients reconnect with what the model calls Self-energy—the calm, compassionate, curious, and grounded qualities that can sometimes feel harder to access during challenging times. In our work together, we may explore how to relate to the inner world with more clarity and care, so that even the parts carrying anxiety, worry, anger, guilt, or protection can be better understood rather than judged.

01

Understand Your Inner World

Notice patterns such as worry, perfectionism, avoidance, people-pleasing, or self-criticism with greater curiosity and less judgment.

02

Reconnect With Self

Strengthen access to calm, compassion, clarity, confidence, and groundedness during emotionally difficult moments.

03

Create Meaningful Change

Develop new ways of responding to anxiety, relationships, work stress, and recurring patterns that no longer feel helpful.

Areas of Focus

What We Can Explore Together

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some may be navigating a specific challenge, while others may feel disconnected, overwhelmed, uncertain, or ready to understand themselves more deeply.

Therapy can offer space to explore what is happening beneath the surface and develop a more compassionate relationship with thoughts, emotions, patterns, and relationships.

Anxiety and Emotional Overwhelm

Anxiety, persistent worry, stress, irritability, or difficulty feeling calm and grounded.

ADHD and Self-Understanding

Diagnosed or suspected ADHD, executive-function challenges, procrastination, emotional regulation, and late-diagnosed ADHD.

Anger and Emotional Regulation

Understanding what may be happening beneath anger and developing more intentional ways of responding.

Relationships and Couples

Relationship stress, communication challenges, recurring conflict patterns, and infidelity.

Difficult Relationship Experiences

Narcissistic abuse recovery, shame, guilt, self-criticism, and emotionally difficult relationships.

Work, Burnout, and Life Transitions

Burnout, workplace stress, caregiver stress, identity questions, major transitions, grief, loss, or loneliness.

Self-Esteem and Feeling Stuck

Feeling disconnected, uncertain, repetitive patterns, low self-worth, or difficulty trusting inner wisdom.

Meaning and Existential Concerns

Spiritual, existential, values-based, or meaning-related concerns approached respectfully and without imposing religious beliefs.

Trauma and Nervous-System Awareness

Exploring protective responses, triggers, emotional patterns, and ways of relating to difficult experiences with greater care.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Many clients begin simply knowing that something feels heavy, confusing, repetitive, or difficult to carry alone, and seek greater clarity by reconnecting with their inner wisdom.
